Marion Guichard is one of the three founding co-partners of Chemlys. Located in the heart of the chemical valley, near Lyon, this company specializes in the marketing of physico-chemical analysis products and services for manufacturers and laboratories.Founded four and a half years ago, Chemlys had the challenge of setting up e-learning training courses, mainly for its customers whose factories are located internationally. Indeed, depending on customer needs, various gas or liquid measurement solutions must be implemented, which requires special skills. Since then, the company has also used the skills management module to optimize its internal procedures.

Why did you use an LMS platform?

We have developed an application from our French factories that one of our customers is now using internationally. As this is an analytical set that is perfectly suited to the industrial environment and does not require too much maintenance, we have had more and more requests to install this equipment from factories located all over the world. An application that is relatively simple to use, to implement and for this client, always managed in the same way. The only concern was that we found ourselves costing a device, originally competitive in price, with substantial installation costs insofar as it was necessary to send a technician to the customer over a week, counting the times, commute and jet-lag, all over the world.The idea was therefore to find a platform that would allow us to provide our customers with all the training modules in a simple, controlled and intuitive way, so that they could self-install the device without any need for us to visit.

What were the benefits to you?

ExperQuiz has allowed us to be able to offer a training service to our customers that is less expensive than a week's trip for one of our technicians to the other side of the world and more practical for factories, since they can follow training when they want it without worrying about planning organization with jet lag in particular. All the more so as we have, thanks to the questionnaires, sufficient information on the level of understanding of customers and the traceability of acquisitions. If we find that the skills are not validated, we can contact a customer before he destroys the machine.

As you discovered the platform, did you find new uses for it?

Yes exactly. We first started using e-learning for our clients' self-installations (e-learning modules with training paths, supports to download, PDF summaries, satisfaction surveys, etc.) then we discovered the skills management module which is now used almost as much internally as externally.

How did you take ownership of the internal skills management module?

What we like is getting our employees to contribute, and ExperQuiz allows users to authorize questions to be created. It is a tool that we find very relevant and that we use a lot, because if you are able to ask a question, it is because you have mastered the concept on which you are asking the question. So when we do in-house training - at Chemlys, we call them "talks" - we ask everyone who takes the training to create questions in ExperQuiz. This makes it possible to validate that they have understood the subject and that they are capable of sufficiently mastering and understanding it to be able to propose a question themselves and put forward a problem. This feature also allows us to increase our base of questions, some of which we can use to assess future recruits. Especially since the employees easily learned about the tool and are very proactive. They are now largely contributors to our question base, which is very positive for pooling skills and knowledge.

How has ExperQuiz allowed you to optimize your procedures?

Thanks to the platform, we have professionalized our internal processes and have more factual information on the integration of employees, the management of their skills and their progress. Before, the surprise reports or interim assessments planned were not always done in optimal time. Now with ExperQuiz, you can make automatic programming and launch an already prepared cycle each time a new employee arrives. So we are confident that it is done and in the most relevant times to do so. Externally, ExperQuiz has enabled us to develop new service offerings, allowing us to be more responsive and competitive in terms of prices.
