Create an online MCQ in a few clicks
Quick to set up, clear for participants, and easy to grade, multiple-choice questionnaires adapt to many contexts. Thanks to AI, creating questionnaires becomes even simpler and more efficient.
Principles of the Multiple-Choice Questionnaire (MCQ)
The MCQ (Multiple-Choice Questionnaire) is a widely used assessment tool (read more about the different forms of assessments) in education, professional training, and even recruitment. It consists of questions accompanied by several answer options, from which the participant must select the correct one(s).
The strength of the MCQ lies in its clarity and speed: within a limited time, it allows you to check knowledge acquisition, comprehension of a topic, or the ability to apply a rule or concept. Unlike an open-ended question, the MCQ reduces ambiguity in expected answers and facilitates grading, which can even be automated.
A well-designed MCQ does not just test immediate recall. Depending on the learning objectives, it can also evaluate:
- Recognition of definitions or key concepts,
- Reasoning ability, by including traps or distractors,
- Practical application of skills, through the analysis of real-world cases.
In summary, the MCQ is a flexible and effective format, suitable both for instructors who want to measure learner progress and for candidates wishing to identify their strengths and areas for improvement.
Create your MCQ with Experquiz
Log in or create a free account
If you already have an administrator account on Experquiz, start by logging into your workspace.
If you don’t yet have an account, you can create an administrator account for free, without commitment. This gives you access to a wide range of features. You will enjoy all platform functionalities for one month without limits, including questionnaire creation and AI-based tools. During the trial period, you can also receive free guidance from an Experquiz expert.
Start by creating a thematic base
Experquiz relies heavily on thematic bases for many of its features. These folders allow you to group different elements (questions, questionnaires, training modules, media, e-learning modules, results) related to the same topic or subject.
Bases are located in the left-hand menu under Bases. Here, you can create and manage thematic bases and the elements they contain. After clicking New Base, you can configure certain elements, such as the name, description, and other options.

Automatically create questions with AI
Several menus are available in each thematic base. Go to the Artificial Intelligence menu to generate a large number of questions in just a few clicks!

There are two ways to create questions with AI:
- From a prompt, e.g., “The wildlife and flora of Antarctica.”
- From your own documents, to focus on concepts specific to you, e.g., a PDF course, an internal company presentation, etc.

You can specify the number of questions to generate and the type of questions (multiple-choice, fill-in-the-blank with selection, fill-in-the-blank without selection). Multiple languages are also available.
Based on your instructions, the AI will generate questions that can then be added to your database for use in your MCQs. Of course, you can modify or delete each question at any time or generate more questions.
Create your own questions
To create your own questions, go to the Questions tab of your base.
Click New Question and select the question type. Define the title, the statement, and the answer options. If you only have the correct answer, click Generate Distractors to have the AI assist by automatically creating distractors.
Depending on your goals, you can add a course reminder or explanations to each question, which will be displayed in your MCQ after the participant has answered. This helps learners understand the reasoning behind the correct answer.
If you already have questions, you can import them via the Import & Export tab.
Create your MCQ
To create your MCQ, go to the Questionnaires tab in your thematic base. After clicking New Questionnaire, you have two options:
- Create a questionnaire with fixed questions
- Automatically generate an MCQ with questions randomly selected from your thematic base.
If you choose Random Draw, specify the number of questions (e.g., 10). You won’t need to select the questions yourself, as the platform will randomly select them for each test and participant.
For a fixed questionnaire, select the questions that will make up your MCQ.
Once this step is complete, go to the Options tab of your questionnaire. Here, you can set various options to customize your test according to your needs.
You can test your MCQ directly from the administrator space at any time.
Send or share your MCQ online
You can send or share your MCQ either by invitation or publicly. In both cases, participants can access the MCQ on computer, tablet, or mobile device.
With a personalized invitation
Send an invitation via email or SMS directly from the platform to each participant. Go to the Invitation menu to customize the validity period of the MCQ and personalize the invitation message.
Publicly
Create a public MCQ accessible to anyone with the test URL: go to the Visibility tab and click Make Public. Several elements are customizable, including the URL to access the MCQ. You can also require a login page to associate results with specific individuals; otherwise, results will be anonymous. You can then share the link directly or download a QR code.
View Results
Results are directly accessible from the Results tab of your questionnaire. You can view answers in real time.
Results are available by evaluation session, by participant (with their answers), and for all public tests.
All results can be exported.
